Our Story
Spring Agric was founded to tackle a pressing challenge: women and youth are the backbone of Africa's agriculture sector but face the harshest effects of climate change. Despite this, they continue to innovate, adapt, and lead, often without recognition or support. We saw an opportunity to change that.
Founded by Nyambura Simiyu and Carren Mwanzia, two Kenyans who grew up in smallholder households and are experienced leaders in sustainable agriculture and gender equity, Spring Agric blends on-the-ground training, media storytelling, and expert consultancy to build resilience from the ground up.

Carren Mwanzia
Co-Founder
Carren Mwanzia is the Co-Founder of Spring Agric, where she is committed to changing the narrative around women and youth in African agriculture. With deep experience in strategy, project management, and systems transformation, Carren brings a unique lens that blends grassroots insight with global development expertise.
In her previous role as Project Manager at Dalberg Advisors, she led high-impact work across agriculture, gender, youth employment, and climate resilience. Her portfolio includes projects with global institutions such as the World Bank, AGRA, and the Mastercard Foundation, designing and scaling strategies that center women and youth as key drivers of inclusive economic growth.
Carren's passion for equitable development is also reflected in her community leadership. She serves on the board of the Junior League of Nairobi, a network dedicated to advancing women's leadership and social change, and contributes to the Nairobi Business Angel Network (NaiBAN), where she supports emerging ventures, especially those led by women and youth.
Carren holds a Bachelor of Science in Financial Engineering from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. She was also a lead for Business Development and Animation at Mekan Games, where she worked on and launched three video games.
Nyambura Simiyu
Co-Founder
Nyambura Simiyu is a Kenyan scientist, entrepreneur, and advocate for sustainable urban agriculture. She is the Co-Founder of Spring Agric, an initiative dedicated to empowering farmers through climate-resilient and sustainable farming practices. She also serves as the Founder and CEO of Ardor Life, a platform that promotes urban gardening and organic food production.
With a background in science and a degree from Kenyatta University, Nyambura has transformed her passion for agriculture into a mission to make farming accessible and sustainable, particularly in urban settings. Operating from her home in Rongai, Nairobi, she manages a backyard farm where she raises up to 200 animals and grows enough vegetables to feed her family of four. Her innovative use of organic methods, such as using rabbit urine as fertilizer and companion planting techniques, underscores her commitment to eco-friendly farming.
Beyond her hands-on farming, Nyambura is a dynamic content creator and educator. She shares her expertise on platforms like YouTube and Instagram, offering practical advice on small-space gardening, organic farming, and sustainable living. Her efforts have inspired a growing community of urban farmers in Kenya and beyond.
